Principal’s Welcome
Welcome to Seymour College.
It is with great pride that I introduce you to our College. Our mission is to educate and provide opportunities for all students to achieve their full potential. This mission is underpinned by the values of Respect, Inspire, and Excel, and our positive approach to behaviour management rewards students for their participation in and demonstration of these values.
The College is unique in many ways, one of which is the inclusive education offered to students with special needs. A state-of-the-art building program allows all students to be integrated within mainstream learning settings.
The Junior Learning Community (F–6) showcases flexible learning spaces and specialist classes in Art, Physical Education, and Science. Our strong and continuous transition program occurs throughout the year, and we have links with all preschool providers. Also co-located on our site is Our Place, which brings together the school and early childhood learning centre.
We have recently introduced a new initiative and now provide free morning tea and lunch for every primary school child every day.
Our secondary sector has undergone further building improvements. Our transition program extends to a number of neighbouring communities and prepares new students for their future learning experiences with the College.
Senior students have access to three pathways: the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE), the new Vocational Major, and the Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC). Vocational Education and Training (VET) can also be included in one of these pathways.
Extra facilities include a well-equipped Arts Centre, Sports Stadiums, and Science, Language, and Technology buildings. The grounds are appointed with ovals and garden areas and also include the co-location of a Trade Training Centre and the Seymour Family and Children’s Centre. This centre houses maternal and child health and kindergarten services.
The College has computer laboratories, libraries, and ICT available in classroom spaces.
Defence families are supported by a Defence School Mentor to assist students in transitioning into new communities and establishing new friendship groups.
College welfare services are supported by Wellbeing Officers, School Nurses, a Secondary School Nurse, and the Doctors in Secondary Schools program.
The College is a vibrant place to learn, and I strongly encourage you to consider what we can offer for your child’s future education.
