In 2023 all students F-12 are able to access a free breakfast every day.
In 2023 all mainstream and inclusive education students from Foundation to Year 6 will be provided with free morning tea and free lunch.
The senior canteen will operate for students in Years 7 to 12, mainstream and inclusive education.
Why?
We are starting this initiative with our primary-aged children after researching a similar program at another school.
Education is the key to our children’s future, and having them establish strong friendships, attend school each day and have the ability to control their behaviours are valued skills to support their learning. The food program supports these skills in a social and collaborative way.
What do parents need to do?
We require you to provide a drink bottle for water.
If your child has a food allergy, you will need to fill out the form and return it to the school nurse. The chef will be fully informed about your child’s allergy and will cater for them accordingly.
What if my child does not like the food on offer?
Three choices of food will be on offer at lunchtime so that your child will be able to choose what they eat. Your child will not go hungry.
Where do the children eat?
Your child will eat morning tea in the classroom and breakfast and lunch in the College Café, which will be located in the Junior Games Hall.
How do I know what they are eating?
You will have access to the menu via our website and Compass emails. In the first few weeks, we will upload photos to our Facebook page so that you can see what was served to your child.
How can I make the same meals at home if my child enjoys particular meals served at the Café?
Luke, the chef who will be cooking your child’s food, will provide recipe cards for you to make the same meal at home. The recipe cards will be available from the foyer of the Family and Children’s Centre.
Can I send my child to school with their own lunch?
Please do not send a lunchbox as we will be providing food for your child throughout the day.
